Requesting answers

Reusing past answers

Reuse eligible answers your workspace already has, and ask new experts only for the rest.

By default, a request can reuse eligible past answers from your workspace instead of asking new experts. Reused answers count toward num_experts, are marked is_past_answer: true, keep the timestamp of when they were first given, and are not charged again.

When a past answer is eligible

  • It was given to your workspace.
  • It addresses the same substantive question, matched on meaning rather than wording, about a compatible company, product, context, geography and scope.
  • It comes from an expert who meets this request's expert_requirements and exclusions.
  • It filled compatible answer_fields: the same names, types, units and options.
  • It is within max_answer_age_days.

Knowing what's fresh

The submit response reports reused_answers, so you know before waiting how many answers will be new. Experts behind reused answers are included in the follow-up round where they are still available.

Searching without asking

To read what is already on file without starting a request, use Search past answers. Answers you commission are reused only within your workspace.
